Villa Amanzi

January 13th, 2011

This is the contemporary beachside villa I’ve been dreaming about. Not only because the architecture but also because of its cohesion with the surrounding environment. The villa is located above Kamala Beach in Phuket, Thailand and as you can imagine the view is incredible as it looks as far as you can see over the ocean.

The home is cantilevered out over the cliff and brings the infinity edge pool with it. There are three main levels to the house. The entertainment level which includes the main living space, diving space, terraces, swimming pool, kitchen, storage and laundry areas. Above this level is the master suite accompanied by three bedrooms each with uninterrupted views of the ocean. The third level which is below the entertainment level, includes two more bedrooms, a private spa and game/family room. The home was designed by Original Vision Ltd.

C’est magnifique! I could happily live out my days in such an abode. I wonder how much that bad boy would set you back?

What an amazing place! I loved all the photos in the post but I think my favorite thing was the little sketch. I love small architectural thumbnail sketches. It reminds me I need to do more…

I didn’t see a price when researching it, but I could imagine several million dollars to build one.

Jesse, I agree that that sketch is great. I want to see an architecture process post that skims lightly over everything and shows rough sketches of the design and photos of the construction.

I agree—I should be sketching more lately.

The daily rates are from $2,000 to $4,500 for the villa

  5. Wow – this house is amazing. The daily rates are for renting it I take it? What a bargain!

Looks like I’ll have to get back to work – I’ll need to generate a lot more money!

Hmmm. I can see why at first glance you would be draw to this hedonistic residence. However, it appears very out of place when you consider its location. I’m sure that the view is jaw dropping, but the impact on the local environment can’t make up for it being a thumping great lump of concrete, in an otherwise verdant and low impact setting. Somewhat of a carbuncle; it would have been impressive if the materials and design had taken the location into consideration. I know that we live in a global village these days, but its always nice to see the local vernacular, rather than something which could have been plonked anywhere and filled with chavs.
