If you were to ask me three years ago if I liked these cassette inserts, I probably would have said no. It just hadn’t occurred to me just how powerful the design is on these. I just can’t seem to get enough—these inserts are beautiful in every way. I believe they are from the 70’s but I’m not exactly sure on that. Check out the full collection and this site for the cassette stickers.

North Kingdom Showreel

North Kingdom is a digital creative agency out of Skellefteå, Sweden. It seems they have been at the top of the awesome charts for a while now—over 30 FWA awards alone. You can check out all of their FWA winning projects here. The thing I love about this showreel is the story. The introductory shots up until the first showing of the work, is definitely my favorite. Make sure to view this fullscreen.

The music that he brings us today have a very relaxing, ambient electronic mood that make them a perfect fit for cranking up your volume and working to. Stumbled upon more images from the 1962 intriguing images from Seattle’s World Fair in ‘62. I found it interesting to look at these images and then walk over to the Space Needle and compare just how much they have taken away.

I’ve posted architecture from Deforest Architects in the past and figured it was about time to show more of their work. This house is very simply designed and resides on Whidbey Island not far from Seattle. I really like how you can see the open beams of the roof juxtaposed with the metal siding.

As of lately I’ve really felt the need to detach myself from working and take a vacation. I think I may have found a very cool place to do just that. This villa in the Finnish archipelago looks like a place where you could just relax and enjoy the cool summer breeze.

The house is built from timber that was left untreated giving it a very natural, weathered look. The best part about this house is clearly the deck. It faces south and has a fire pit with a retractable cover. I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening than roasting a marshmallow while watching the sunset from the comfort of your very own deck.

Architect: Huttunen-Lipasti-Pakkanen Architects

Facebook GUI PSD

Facebook GUI PSD
Facebook GUI PSD
SurgeWorks just released this free Facebook GUI PSD. The kit was is under creative commons so it can be modified as you wish without any restrictions. I always like these kits (iPhone kit released not long ago) because you can see how other PSD’s are compiled.

The kit has everything from the site: logo, UI elements, main window with the header, menu, chat window, modal components, comment boxes, buttons, message boxes, tabs, the whole works. The components are even built using vectors and blending options, so that scaling and editing the objects will not be a problem.

Argentina seems to be the holy land of beautiful homes. This home by Andrés Remy Arquitectos was created for a young family who wanted to feel close to nature in an urban environment. There are some pretty interesting thoughts by the architect. Continue reading to see what the architect had to say.

Antrepo has released their newest font called Public Gothic Family. What better way to promote it than to have such beautiful graphics showcasing their look and feel. Based on these few graphics I really would love to get my hands on this family. It can be purchased from Antrepo’s shop.

You can see the full character maps here: Character sheet 1 & Character sheet 2.

These album covers are from a collection scanned and archived by Jive Time Records, a Seattle based store specializing in used vinyl. The fact that designers could get away with such simple designs just blows me away. It seems to me that it’s getting harder and harder to get away with designing so simply.
