The Mandeville Canyon Residence is located in Brentwood, California and was designed by Griffin Enright Architects. The modern interior makes the house feel warm and welcome. The whole living area can be opened up by sliding large glass doors aside. What a spectacular house to relax in during spring or summer nights.

Guy Laramée is an artist who found his way by traversing many different disciplines over the course of 30 years. His work has varied across mediums and lands here for us with these beautiful, carved book landscapes. The precision and presentation of each make it all the more remarkable. If you’re in the Montreal, Quebec area during April 5-29th, 2012, make sure to check out his show at the Galerie d’Art d’outremont.

Be more interesting. This is a note to self on things to keep in mind every day. Life is there for us to use and enjoy at our will. Being interesting isn’t a job of life, it’s an option.

Paris-based photographer Ben Sandler created these beautiful vintage feeling fashion photos. The photos were taken at a home designed by Alvar Aalto. Did you see that stunning hover car? Talk about retro-futurism.

Just received these beautiful, surreal photos via email from photographer Ian Matteson. You may remember Ian’s identity work I completed for him a couple years ago. These photos were shot on Silent Corner just up a ravine outside of Salt Lake City.
What you’re seeing is not actually fog, it’s smog that covered the valley for days.

What started as a seemingly simple, delicate room turned into an amazing sticker installation. Yayoi Kusama masterminded this for the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. Over the course of two weeks, children who visited the museum were given stickers to place where they wished. The installation, entitled The Obliteration Room.

Griffin Enright Architects built this unique house nestled between a stream and hillside outside of Ross, California. The most interesting aspect to this house is the split roof that allows for more light to stream in and also for a more intimate interior spaces.

When you come across a house such as this, it’s almost impossible to resist dropping what you’re doing just to share it or admire it fully. This isn’t the first time that the work of Bates Masi Architects has done that for the blog.
The house comes in at 6,500 square feet and is occupied by a single family in Bridgehampton, New York. It is a series of open-ended box shaped sections that allow for multiple actives to take place in and around the house without complete interruption. Each section of the house has independent audio, video and climate controls without hindrance to the other sections.

The form of this modern looking lounge chair / bed is quite interesting. Though it was built for recently, it seems that there has to be a retro-futuristic connection with the design. Regardless this is on my want list.
