When people ask me the question, “what do you want to be”, I can’t seem to answer it with just one definite thing. My interests in design, photography and music are so deep that to pick just one and live with it isn’t impossible. The blog has formed because of that. All of my interests are out on the table in hopes that you’ll become inspired by the same things that inspire me.

Also by continuously revisiting these minimalistic visuals, I hope that we as designers or photographers will begin to adopt the ideals of not overcomplicating our work without reason.

What is Wanken?

Wanken began as the name for my brother’s video production ventures as a kid while growing up in Idaho. We started off shooting bmx videos to try to get sponsored. Eventually that died away and I became interested in starting a clothing company. For a few years I tried to run that, but if you’ve tried running a clothing company, you’d know just how difficult it is. After some time doing that while in high school, I began to find interest in building websites and was soon hired for freelance gigs on small projects. One of which was Bikecar; still to this day a favorite.A few years later Wanken has become the moniker that I blog and freelance under.

It is my hope that by continuously revisiting these minimalistic visuals, we’ll begin to adopt the ideals of not overcomplicating our design.

Putting that aside, Wanken is my portfolio of work and blog that I highly curate for quality content—things that are inspirational to me, that I hope you will enjoy.
