Its that time of year when we all have to pull our best gift ideas out of our hats. This list is compiled of some reasonably priced gifts as well as some that may just stay on your own list for years to come. All are great ideas to give as gifts to your design friends or to even sneak them into your own stocking.
Hit the jump to see the items on the list and to share your gift ideas!
1. Ugmonk Garments from $24-48
Now is the best time because there is a 15% Promo code on the site (ends December 31st). For the longest time I’ve wanted to snag one or the other of these. Check out more at the Ugmonk store.
2. Swissair T-shirt for $32
On the count of three lets say awesome together. I’ve longed for this shirt for nearly a month now and I’m sure you can realize why after reading this post.
3. Coda Development Tool for $99
While the tool’s price is pretty steep its very handy. I’ve referred many people to using this application because of its ease of use. You may not be a developer but this app makes editing your personal portfolio a whole heck of a lot easier.
4. Rado Watches from $1,600 and up
Every wish list has to have at least one extremely high priced item. These watches by Rado Switzerland are those items. Rado I’m looking at you to be the filler of my stocking.
5. G-TECH 2TB Hard Drive for $289
If you know your friend isn’t doing their routine backups or always complains of hard drive issues, you might consider treating them with this G-Tech drive. It’s a guarantee that you won’t have to listen to them complain any longer. The drive has all the necessary inputs and most importantly it is fast and reliable.
6. Art & Copy Film for $24
Art & Copy is a film about advertising and inspiration. It reveals the work and wisdom of some of the most influential advertising creatives of our time, people who’ve impacted our culture. This film is another great stocking stuffer
7. Helvetica Notebook for $22
Which side of Helvetica are you? This book lets you choose your love/hate relationship with Helvetica. This two-sided notebook features a loving quote in Helvetica Std on one cover, then flips to reveal a darker intent.
8. Transmit FTP Tool for $34
Never before have I used a more consistent FTP application. Picking two great things about this would be that you can bookmark specific sites and search for files.
9. The Slight Edge Book for $15
The Slight Edge is a really powerful concept that focuses on achieving all aspects of your life—your health, your finances, your personal relationships and your family life. It’s available on audiobook format and in print. Definitely a book that you can’t do without.
10. Paul Tebbott Posters from $10-40
Paul Tebbott is a visual artist and excellent electronic musician performing under Horizon Fire. Mosey on over to his shop to choose from a larger selection of his work.
11. Düller Sketchbook for $22
This sketchbook includes 24 sheets of heavy. The font and back covers are made of cardboard stock with debossed black foil lettering. This is a sketchbook you’ll want to keep.
12. Slim Calculator from $25-35
Created by the in-house design team at IDEA International, Japan, the Slim Calculator (a mere 1/4″ in thickness) features a tactile rubbery skin and a subtle, soft keypad. Available in two sizes, for the desktop or your book bag.
13. AIAIAI TMA-1 Headphones for $200
The TMA-1 headphone is a well liked headphone used by Ghostly’s own Matthew Dear and Seth Troxler. The headphone was designed by the Danish design-firm KiBiSi. See specs here.
14. Helvetica Forever book for $49
This publication retraces Helvetica’s fifty-year history, compares it to the well-known sans serif fonts of the twentieth century, and examines the phenomenon of its unparalleled spread. The documentation is based on the achievements and archive of Alfred Hoffmann, the former director of the Haas’sche Schriftgiesserei (type foundry), where, in conjunction with Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann, Helvetica was developed. I’d really love to get my hands on this book.
15. Pantone Color Bridge Swatch Book Set for $209
Lately I’ve been asked quite a few times if I had a set of Pantone swatches. I find they’re super useful when prepping files for print, if you get the right guide—the formula guide isn’t the one you want. I made the mistake of buying that one.
You’re probably looking for the color bridge set which includes RGB and CMYK equivalents. You can also find these swatch books on eBay for much cheaper.
Shelby, as always, the designers’ wishlist showcases some fun products. But why is that ampersand on the Ugmonk hoodie so boring? Where are the serifs?
Seriously though, cool stuff to think about. I would add some of the music you’ve highlighted this year (Miori, Pinscape, Social Network Soundtrack) to this, highlighting some of that great design music.
I may have to get my hands on the Slight Edge, and add it to the line-up of audios I’m currently sifting through! Looks like a good concept!
Lastly, Shameless promo – I think a Brand New Intention “Four 4 Fifty” grab bag should make the list for any designer of the male gender ( or females that like unisex tees. ;)
I’m adding this to my Xmas list:
Letterpress desktop calendar feat. @adamrgarcia @jessicahische & more — http://www.studioonfire.com/design-services/2011-studio-on-fire-letterpress-calendar/
great list. Thanks for sharing!

The “airlinesoriginals.com” website seems to only sell airline bags now (i.e. the Swissair tshirt is nowhere to be found).
You may want to update your link/reference.

Thanks Patrick! Updated the post with a new link.
If your artlices are always this helpful, “I’ll be back.”
