Star Wars Nostalgia

September 13th, 2010

While searching through images for interior design inspiration, I stumbled upon these Star Wars gems. So many memories were brought back when I saw these. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I watched my first Star Wars. I’m guessing at least 10 years.

It’s been a long time, but I think I was always sort of torn between what side to root for because I liked the look of the storm troopers so much. Hopefully someone can vouch for me here. On top of thinking Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers looking cool, I used to want a lightsaber. Admittedly I’m pretty sure I still do want one.

Stormtroopers, snowtroopers and scout troopers (especially scout troopers – those slide-viewer esque lenses!) look super-cool. AT-ATs and AT-STs are badass as well; in fact the vehicle and character design in Star Wars IV, V and VI was just exceptional overall. Such good memories! Then the prequel trilogy happened. :(

Ha ha ha….I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said! And I too still want a light saber!

The Storm Troopers were cool, but Darth Vader was the coolest!! I vividly remember how taken I was when Darth Vader first hit the screen (1977). He came walking though the smokey aftermath of the shootout that had occurred between rebels and the empire. He was the coolest damn thing I’d ever seen in my 7 years of life!! I still get heart palpitations just thinking about that–ha ha…

    Excellent post–two thumbs up!!

    It’s just lightsaber… one word : )

And… Empire is the best. Just sayin’.

These exact photos appear in the Return of the Jedi Story Book that I’ve owned since 1983. Is that where you got them? There’s also a photo in that book which got cut out of the current versions of the movie. It’s of Luke hanging from the grate at the top of the Rancor monster’s pit, underneath Jaba’s throne room. And the guards stomp on his fingers to make him fall back down. You know the rest…
