Lake Walensee House

July 19th, 2010

This is a family home by K-M Architecktur along Lake Walensee in Switzerland. It is built of wood and metal. The metal fits perfectly with the cliffs on the far side of the lake’s edge. The wood also looks beautiful with the mineral water in the lake. The house itself is situated on the slope of a green meadow not far from the water.

Beautiful house, and at a beautiful location.

I drive past there on a regular basis (a main motorway through Switzerland goes right past the Walensee) and the color of the water is even more intense than visible on the pictures, a truly fascinating location.

I appreciate the house too, although I’m generally not a fan of minimalistic architecture / interior design involving a lot of wood. The Swiss are very resilient when it comes to maintaining the look of their mountainsides, so both thumbs up to that.

Too bad about those exterior “pipe” support posts. At least paint them out so it would make the house appear to float.
