Swiss Alps Residence: A Mix of Natural and Modern

July 9th, 2010

Time after time I dream of living in a beautiful home nestled amongst the Swiss Alps. This particular house by Christian Speck (Formzone) is that dream home. It’s style, “modern meets stone” looks welcoming.

The house combines a beautiful minimalist modern interior with a traditional rustic stone exterior that really creates a really sensational design. It’s also really great to see wood used so nicely in the flooring and rooms. I know I’d love to spend a sunrise or sunset out on the deck—would you?

Amazing. That view is just ridiculous. I would love to print huge window vinyls of that view and just adhere them to my windows to live in an amazing dream world.

Absolutely stunning – love that stone staircase. And the view is probably the best in the world. It is sad to think that most of these homes are vacant most of the time, owned as second/vacation homes or investments instead of residences.

  4. I’m noticing a theme here. All the houses have at least one Eames chair.

  5. @ Jesse — Ha ha ha! Hilarious comment dude :p

@Jesse @Joaquim Totally. You could be in paradise 24/7. How about some sort of hologram to give you the stars at night.

@Matt I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for houses that utilize the Eames loungers power.

That would be perfect. Except you would have to hire someone to deliver food because of how disappointed you would be if you left home.

I’m gonna go ahead and say it, I don’t think the Eames Lounge Chair fits there at all. Maybe it’s the bright flashes used for the photograph, it seems painfully out of place, consuming the space like a monolithic space vampire. It’s not that I don’t like the chair, I really do, I even wrote a short feature about it, I just reckon you need a lot more space to begin.

Hi there, I just spent a little time reading through your posts, which I found entirely by mistake whilst researching one of my projects. Please continue to write more because it’s unusual that someone has something interesting to say about this. Will be waiting for more!

  11. Love it, except the bedroom. The wood and the floor, maby the whole room doesn’t fit into the house. But the rest is absolutely awesome and I would love to live in it!

  12. Kellie says:

    Everything about that is beautiful!
