As a navigational feature I’ve added a “related posts” feature below each post. You can see this when you click into a post to comment or see it in action here. Right now the relatedness is set pretty loosely but as new posts come in I’ll try and refine the results.
This should be a handy new feature so feel free to let me know what you think.
Great option. You did a good job. This will help others find more and more posts when you’re blog grows and grows (stating the obvious I know).
Hey, what are you using to get the featured posts & related posts lists?
Tristen,
I actually don’t use a plugin for the featured posts…yet. I may eventually step up to a plugin, but as of right now I create each thumbnail and enter them. It’s rather quick for me, but a cms-side solution would be better.
If you want to use a good featured posts plugin, I’d recommend you check out this one. I haven’t used it but might in the near future: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/yet-another-featured-posts-plugin/.
As for the related posts, its a combination of hard coding and using a related posts plugin (here’s a bunch: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=related+posts&sort=)
Shelby,
Thanks for the suggestions. I actually got a Featured Posts section working with a plugin. It took a little tinkering but I got it to work. Its similar to yours so I’m sure you could use it. You can define the thumbnail size, it automatically creates it for you (though you can replace the made one if you like something better) and so on. It’s the featured-post-with-thumbnail plugin.
I’ll have to test it out and see. Drop a link when you have yours is live so I can check it out.
