1960s Life Science Book Covers & Graphics

February 22nd, 2012

1960s had some of the most interesting design. The typography and photography really pushed design in a beautiful direction. These 1960s Life Science book covers and graphics bring on such a wave of nostalgia. The typeface used in these was perfect.

I own a copy of Man & Space. It’s really awesome book with some sloppy pen and ink drawings. Very cool.

Ah yes, I’ve been collecting these for some time now. Nearly found the entire set at a thrift store, $0.90 each! I love the tiny graphics on the back.

‘Man and space’ was written by Arthur C. Clarke. I have the Dutch version, published by Parool/Life, called ‘De mens in de ruimte’. Same photo but the type is in Futura Heavy.
